François Mauriac, un journaliste engagé
The publication of François Mauriac’s “Bloc-notes” in the 50s, first in L’Express then in Le Figaro littéraire, left a deep imprint on journalism. Throughout his public and journalistic life, Mauriac was marked by the contradiction between the influence of the most reactionary catholic bourgeoisie and the awakening of a passionate humanist Christian conscience committed to justice and liberty. Through the articles read by Claude Rich and the testimonies of historians and philosophers, the film deals with this evolution: a political consciousness put to the test of facts and finding its expression in journalism.
