Entre parenthèses
The game — the parentheses — in question here is an unconscious way for Lea (a young woman in her mid-to-late 20s, who lives alone in a studio in Paris) to exceed her own limits and live out her buried desires. Lea gives up her studies to learn to dance but never officially enrolls for classes. She makes a living temping as a hostess. She doesn’t see much of her family. She has a friend, Karine, but takes her distance from her during this adventure. She is free as a bird, hopes to stay that way, but there’s a spark missing in her life. One day, during a chat over the Internet, a man or woman named Camille suggest a kind of game. She accepts. Lea must fulfill missions during which she meets people. What appeals to her is the blend of the unknown, danger, novelty, the taste of adventure. Subconsciously, like all women, she dreams of meeting Mr. Right. Maybe Camille is that man? Thanks to this moment in her life, Lea experiences new sensations, pleasures and anxieties. She takes risks by steering on the razor’s edge. She throws herself body and soul into this game without really knowing where it will lead her.
