Enfance à vendre, histoires d'Albanie
In Albania, since the fall of the communist regime, the trafficking in children for “work” abroad is tolerated de facto by society and the State. By following the daily work of Namik, a 45-year-old Albanian, we see how some have sought to prevent this drama at its source. Through his pragmatic approach to material daily problems, Namik tries to give impoverished families an alternative to the forced labor of their children and makes their victims understand their status and their right to refuse to take part in this system. With Elton, Ella and Sputim, all children “smuggled” to Greece, the scandalous, human scope of this situation is given faces and facts that demonstrate better than statistics the need to fight this complex de facto situation.
