Emmerich Kálmán
Kalman story began in the twenties in Vienna, then the capital of operetta. At the Hotel Sacher, he met a young girl who would change his life radically: Vera, the daughter of poor Russian immigrants. They were married shortly after. Vera was driven by her desire for fame and excitement and Kalman got her small roles now and then. Kalman, on the contrary, remained a quiet, unassuming man. Vera filled his life, which until then had only been devoted to music with family matters, children, love, affairs and passion – in a very intense and theatrical way. They lived in a luxurious villa in a posh area in Vienna. Life was a never-ending party, for which the best cooks were hired, the most famous people invited. They were among the wealthiest people of their day. Vera’s dream had come true...
