Edgar G. Ulmer the uncrowned King of B-Movies: always walking a fine line between art and outrageous trash, solid film craft and lurid B-Pictures. He did not only acquire cult-status but also became an important influence on directors such as Martin Scorsese, Peter Bogdanovich or Jean-Luc Godard. The film is a journey through the enigmatic life of Edgar G. Ulmer, off the straight biographical path, along detours through truth, lies and fiction. It examines how Ulmer's work lives on today: in the archives, in the memories of contemporary witnesses and his daughters, in the admiration of his fans and in the spirit of low-budget film-making. With, amongst others, Roger Corman, Peter Bogdanovich, Wim Wenders, John Landis, Joe Dante, John Saxon and Ann Savage.
