The Other Earth

This film is a part of a popular series of art documentaries that air on the Bulgarian Television. This series, called Clever Village, explores the life of well-known people that create, live and work within Bulgarian culture. Their style consists of an eclectic mix of both documentary and fiction. Each film has its own dramaturgy that is determined by the complex character of each individual, by his temperament, friends and living biography. This episode concentrates on the painter Gredi Assa. Artistic and avant-garde Assa becomes playful and then thoughtful while being surrounded by his paintings and the rhythm of music. With the exception of the thoughts he shares in the front of the camera, everything else is a visual metaphor, a postmodern play that is based on concrete biographical facts.
