"He who pays his debts grows richer", goes an old French proverb. But proverbs can be wrong: the nations of sub-Saharan Africa borrowed millions of dollars during the 70s in development loans. But some countries, like Mali, have already reimbursed the rich nations more than seven times the amounts borrowed while the remaining debt has been multiplied by four—financial mathematics can be strange indeed. This film, written in the first person like an economic essay, raises the question: who’s aiding whom?
