Der Kreis - Profile einer KünstlergruppeThe Circle - Profiles of an Artist's Group
An artist, a minute. 29 film miniatures presenting the members of the oldest artist group of Nuremberg. Created in the ruins of the bombed city in 1947, the artists sought not so much a new avant-garde style as a public and possibilities of exhibition in an “art-free” time. The “lack” of an artistic program turned out to be the group’s strength and “the Circle” thus grew into the most important and best-known artist group in northern Bavaria. Sculptors, painters and conceptual artists make up its rich artistic potential, and it now represents three generations. The film, which has neither commentary nor interviews, is conceived as an associative artistic roundelay where the individual miniatures, supported by the sound design, come together to form a whole.
