This documentary makes archeological history a thriller. The camera follows the graying investigator as he opens the doors of institutes and research centers, goes through the archives and museum storerooms, crisscrosses the roads of Burgundy and the Jura mountains in search of the mysterious Alesia. “Our ancestors the Gauls,” or how France, since the days Napoleon III ordered excavations, rose from the origins relating to Vercingetorix. This documentary is an inquiry into the Gallic memory of the French nation.
