Angels in America
The libretto is based upon Tony Kushner’s original play which won the Pulitzer Prize and two Tony awards. “Angels in America” is a singular and fantastic portray of homosexuality and aids devastation in today’s America. Born from the famous American melting-pot and grappling with their pains, some human beings are passing, watched by spirits from heaven and hell, the “angels”… After “Three sisters” in 1998 and “The Balcony” in 2002 the composer and conductor Peter Eötvös proposes a burning work, created in Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet. The American baritone Daniel Belcher is facing an amazing group of angels and characters, among them: Barbara Hendricks, Julia Migenes, Roberta Alexander, Derek Lee Ragin…
