Born in Osaka, Japan, Midori first burned a hole onto the international radar screen following her sensational debut at age 11 on New Year’s Eve of 1982. The particulars of that celebrated debut have since passed into modern musical legend. Midori understood it skillfully not to be a part of the international star circus. Since years she is involved as a music teacher at the Music School of Manhattan, but also in Master classes in America, Europe and Japan. On the other hand she is organizing concerts and courses for poor pupils. Midori is a cosmopolitan, but she has a very special relation to the Classical-European repertoire. The film shows Midori during rehearsals with Philarmonic Orchestras. Holger Preusse visits Midori in her apartment in New York City. He is with her and some of her students while she gives them lessons.
