Bitter Lands is a documentary rural western, shot during three years. This is the story of a handful of stockbreeders who want to recover some small holdings. This is the story of an audacious’ band who dares to defy the lords. This is the story of a trampled law... Bitter Lands takes place in the center of France, on Aubrac. A lunar plateau swept by the winds where the same families reign since the beginning of times. This is a film without streamers, nor raised fists. It is a rocky film, a stifling door-closed story, an immoral fable played close to the cows’ass. Bitter Lands is a cry, the deaf and tender cry of ordinary people who do not want to die.
