One night the life of Novi Ligure, a peaceful town, was dramatically changed: Suzy Cassini and her son Gianluca were knifed to death at home. Erika, the 16 years old daughter and the only survivor, gave the investigators their clue to the course of events: thieves were probably Slavs. The country was swept up in a wave of panic. For 48 hours Novi became an issue, from the question of the illegal immigrants to the death penalty. Then came the shock announcement: the murderers were Erika and her boyfriend Omar.
