Schweigen, Blut und EhreSilence, Blood and Honour
The N’drangheta is Europe’s biggest organization, situated in Calabria in southern Italy. She is ruthless and cruel, imposing the laws of silence, blood and honor on Calabria’s society. The N’drangheta is so old that in a way she even became part of Italy’s folklore. There even is a music label featuring the mafia’s music – written by the mafia, for the mafia. An Italian, Mimmo Siclari, tries to sell that music. He has a huge success in Germany and other central European countries, but in Italy they despise this vain effort to paint the mafia as a folkloristic element in Italian society. The film shows both sides: the deceptively soft mafia music and the mafia’s cruel impact on Calabria.
