Jacob Benyamini, a successful businessman, return to the kibbutz he had left many years ago. He is interested in acquiring the kibbutz's bankrupt cosmetics plant run by his friend and rival, Hilik, who invested the best years of his life in it. Benyamini meets the kibbutz members who had not accepted him in the past, as well as his ex-girlfriend Dorit. Dorit is now married to Hilik, who regards the factory as his life's work and is forced into a last ditch attempt to préserve the disintegrating kibbutz as well as his wife's heart. Mifal Haim was filmed on the grounds of Kibbutz Gal-On located in the south of Israel as well as in Tel Aviv. It displays the collapse of the ideals that the kibbutz embodied.
