A metalworking plant since 1894, Metaleurop employed a workforce of 830 in 2003, 20% of them on a temporary basis. In mid-January 2003, the employees learned that the company was filing for bankruptcy despite the fact that, until then, they had been asked to make an effort in production. This new economic catastrophe, which affected an already badly-stricken region (mines, steel, etc.) would produce important collateral damage. The film describes what such a drama can do to a family. Not just any family, but an entire clan: the Bertrands, a family of 10 who all live together. Three generations of Bertrands lost their health and their dreams in this company.
