Mélodies en sol mineur
In Krivoj-Rog, a small mining town in the Ukraine, Didier Portal filmed the amazing young musicians of the municipal jazz school. This film isn’t a remake about the poor people’s brass band, where the British miners are replaced by their Ukrainian counterparts, who are poorer still. It’s first and foremost a love story. For Andrey, for Denis, for Alina and all the others: 22 children who play Duke Ellington and Herbie Hancock with passion, while their parents go down into the mines.
