Marilyn Meier suffers. She suffers because of her job as manager of a failing hairdressing salon in Mittelbach, because of her stoutness and her love life. Adrian Bruppacher, the married mayor, doesn’t even invite his lover to his birthday party at the “Rössli”. But out of the blue, Marilyn’s employee, Hans-Georg, proposes to her. He’d like to turn the business around and make it successful. Everything changes when Chasper Senn, a music producer from Zurich, discovers her singing-songwriting talents. He asks the hairdresser to compose a song for him. Marilyn starts rehearsing with Halil, a Turkish waiter working at the “Rössli”. `Her goal: to appear on “Music of the Heart", the popular music program.
