Les 50 ans de l'Olympia

The saga of that flagship music hall, the Olympia, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. A vessel that has not always known smooth sailing but despite the financial storms has navigated each new wave between tradition and modernity. Each port of call brought its novelties: the post-war years, the “ye-ye“ craze, the paving stones of ’68, the “peace and love” flowers, the punk rage, the pinnacle of French chanson, its decline and rebirth, the threat of the major venues such as the Zenith and Bercy, its demolition and resurrection. At the helm, a visionary captain, Bruno Coquatrix, raising anchor for a dream cruise, sailing against wind and tide, baling out when shipwreck threatened, knowing when to drop anchor and give up the helm to make way for other voyages...
