Le Petit Piano de voyage de Mozart
This story could begin like a fairy tale: "Once upon a time... there was a little instrument that everyone had forgotten..." And one day, it was recognized in a small country town by a man of art, the only one who could make out the secret behind the "charming little table". The little pianoforte of Chartres was the "good little keyboard" that Leopold Mozart bought in Augsburg for his children, Wolfgang and Nannerl. This instrument was to travel with the two child prodigies throughout Europe. It was the work of Andreas Stein, the great piano maker of Augsburg, who was close to the Mozart family and who contributed to the discovery of the pianoforte. This inquiry, centered on this small instrument that had belonged to the Mozarts, provides the film's structure. This marvelous story is complemented by the story of how keyboard instruments are made.
