Le Grand Chalet is a very old and very large house built entirely of wood. It must be one of the largest chalets ever built. The enigmatic painter, Balthus, spent the last decades of his life here. The film takes us into this extraordinary house and the strange universe that Balthus created in this edifice with its 60 bedrooms. In the course of the film, boundaries fade: the physical reality changes to gradually become one of Balthus’s masterpieces.
