Le Choix de Mino
44-year-old Dominique Knockaert has been quadriplegic since birth: the on-duty doctor at the clinic was inexplicably absent when her mother delivered. Mino was born unconscious. She soon showed signs of motor problems, but it was put down to unwillingness. When she was four, a pediatrician diagnosed a cerebral motor disability. For lack of sufficient oxygen at birth, the left side of her brain, which controls movements, was damaged. The cognitive area functioned. Mino would need all her willpower to bear all the distress society has in store for the handicapped. She has hung on, but when she realized she won’t walk again, she was in despair. Fifteen years ago, Mino met Rémy Knockaert. It was “prevailing love” that allowed her to hold on. The film relates Mino’s life, her faith, her doubts, her desire to die and her craving to live with Remy, the man she loves.
