Kinshasa, July 2003, little 8 year-old Nsumbu is accused of sorcery by neighbors who suspect him of having caused the death of their daughter Kabibi. The girl's father and brother spray the boy with petrol and set him alight. He dies in hospital 4 days later. The papers devot only a tiny paragraph to this appalling deed. In the Congolese capital, crippeled by war and food shortages, tens of thousands of children are rejected on suspicion of possessing evil powers. The frenzy approches its height: children are burned alive and the authorities don't intervene. The film expose the utter madness and cruelty involved in the exorcism and treatment of these children. But it also follows the tireless efforts of those determined to vanquish this mass hysteria.
