L'Éléphant, la fourmi et l'État
April 21, 2002 - the "shock." During the elections, a large proportion of French voters either abstained or cast a ballot for the far right, revealing a strong mistrust of institutions. Since then, the question of the role of the State and its reforms, at a time when the centers of power are shifting towards Europe and regions, is a central topic of debate. The film analyses the links between the individual drama and the collective stakes. This inquiry deals with the end of an enterprise, the victim of unchecked globalization, in a region where industrial desertification has caused a violent feeling of being abandoned by the State. It explores the basic questions being asked of those who govern us. State reforms, regionalization, redistribution of skills and means, public services, correction of inequalities and growth interact with questions of daily life, job uncertainty, training, unemployment, retirement: in short, social insecurity.
