L'Autre Iran - Maryam
Maryam, a crippled 30-year-old journalist, is an Iranian press star. In one of the countries biggest large-circulation dailies, Iran, she uses her column to very unusual ends. Maryam tries to repair broken, damaged lives, reunite and reconcile the forlorn, the wounded, the downtrodden. We see her with Sepideh, a young woman who had acid thrown in her face by her husband's first wife. Not only does Maryam raise funds and mobilize specialists to pay for her plastic surgery, not only does she help her get alimony from her husband, who has left her in the meantime, but she also tries to reconcile her with her parents, provide for her reinsertion in society and help her start a new life. Inasmuch as that is possible...
