Called the "Pavarotti of low notes," Kurt Rydl is one of the bass singers most in demand today. He is also highly regarded for his performances of Wagner. Last year in Vienna, the singer celebrated his 25 years in opera, and was awarded the Cross of Honor. Director Werner Boote spent an entire year following the singer around Europe. The film retraces the career of this "gladiatorial" temperament, both on stage and in life.
