Gipsy et Maud
Under the big top of the Gruss circus at the chateau de Piolenc, a close quarters event has been taking place for generations. Here, the Gruss family has been practicing the “art of transmission.” For the last time, Gipsy Gruss is directing, with her daughter Maud, the unusual number that has made her a world-rank artist: balancing on her head on a high wire — an act that was passed down to her by her mother and grandmother. Gipsy and Alexis Gruss have a personal archive of poignant documents, films and photos that retrace their history. The film seeks to demonstrate how much transmission is a challenge worth taking up and how it concerns us all.
