Gas Station : Afrique du Sud
Gas Station takes you on a trip to different countries, reflecting local habits, political, social or religious issues in the microscopic environment of small independent gas stations. The station owners, customers and personnel provide a vivid impression of the major issues in the country they live in. The title Gas Station: Ireland is presented in the Fipatel market. In the South African episode, a Caucasian ‘farmer’ runs a petrol station on the outskirts of Johannesburg. He has opened a bar catering to blacks in the neighborhood. He runs his business with a firm hand but is nevertheless loved by the blacks. A story about the slumbering racism after the abolition of Apartheid.
