Félix Arnaudin
In the mid-19th century, when the Landes began to intensively cultivate pine trees, Felix Arnaudin saw a dying world. A world he would preserve in photographs (3,000 photos at the Aquitaine Museum in Bordeaux). He also collected songs, tales, proverbs, in view of keeping Gascon language and culture alive. In his journal, he wrote of his love of the Lande region, his hatred of the nascent industrial world and his frustrated passion for a young serving girl. Using the photos of this now-vanished Landes, excerpts from his writings and tradition songs, the film reconstitutes the portrait of a remarkable man and his work.
