Coup de théâtre à Moscou
It was a typical evening performance for the company of the Dubrovka Theater. On stage, “Nord Ost” was in progress, with the entrance of the aviators, looking smart in their uniforms. Then, all of a sudden, other uniforms burst into the theater, shots were fired into the air, people screamed. Fear filled the theater: a commando of 40 Chechen combatants had just taken hostage 800 people. A close quarters situation that was broadcast around the world. Several months after the drama, we meet the hostage-players of these 57 hours. The extreme violence of the act and that of the methods employed by the Russian government left their irremediable marks. The film describes their attempt to maintain and fashion a collective memory, to create a eventual fortification against the silence of the State.
