Closterman et les as de l'aviation
Summer 1940. There are storm clouds over Europe, a hail of fire and steel inundate the earth. The war is global: never have so many men met their death in so little time. Inaugurated during 1914-18, aviation became an inevitable stake in the Second World War. In France, it only took a few weeks for armies to collapse, for depression and collaboration. Combining massive military preparation with total mobilization in all areas, the German war machine climaxed in an aestheticizing of politics towards the glory of one man: Adolf Hitler. Refusing to accept defeat and the Nazi occupation, Pierre Clostermann, Henri de Bordas, Jacques Remlinger and other joined the ranks of the Resistance around General de Gaulle in England. These firebrands were among the 287 fighter pilots of the French air force. Only 69 of them survived.
