Ceux qui aiment ne meurent jamais
A child, Albert, remembers... his father's death, one March day in Champagne, 1915. His father emerges from his trench during an attack, brandishing his sword to rally his men, and a round of machine gun fire stops him dead with five bullets in his chest. The man's lingering death in the tiny church that's used as an emergency first aid post behind the lines, the long week of waiting and suffering to follow, will haunt Albert's days and nights. So the child turns the people in his daily life into imaginary characters in a story that is relentlessly interrupted by reality. It's the story of an inner life and an earlier life that become profoundly linked. A child watches History unfold before his eyes, knowing full well the final outcome. Nevertheless, he tries to fight against the course of events and the force of destiny.
