Belfast, die Kinder und der Fluch der GeschichteBelfast, the Children and the Curse of History
This documentary tells the story of a catholic schoolgirl in Belfast. September 2001, it is the first school day after the summer holiday. It is a school day that the six to ten years-old schoolgirls will never forget in their lifetime. They are escorted by heavily armed policemen to the left and the right side of the street leading to their school. The policemen are trying to push back the furious throng. Adult are abusing, insulting and threatening the children and their parents. But how did this happen? Where is this deep hatred coming from? Why are the parents suspending their children to such a situation? The program analyzes these images and tries to answer to these questions. It is about social fears, historical experiences, organized gangs and paramilitaries, about terrorism and about children that are delivered to the curse of their history.
