Michel Trenk is a 37-year-old psychotherapist who has worked in prisons for a number of years. Convinced that one of his patients, Cornelia Steinweb, is cured and can now deal with the outside world, he manages to obtain an early release for her, despite his colleagues' objections. And indeed, the young woman is incapable of going back to "normal" life. She uses all means in her power to stay in contact with the psychologist, clinging to him, finally harassing him. In the end, she not only compromises his career, but she also becomes a threat to the very lives of his wife and child.
