Arroz y tartanaRice and Tartan
The action of Rice and Carriage, one of the most autobiographical works by its author, Vicente Blasco Ibañez, is set in Valencia in the late 19th and early 20th century. Some years before, the old regimes and colonies had ended to make way for revolution and major social movements. These were years of radical modernization in a society in which the Spanish bourgeoisie was emerging, along with the inventions that revolutionized domestic and industrial life. This film shows the joys and misfortunes of the people of Valencia at that time.
