Al HakavRound Trip
Nurit, a forty years old bus driver, is extremely unhappy with her life. She lives in a small town in the North of Israel, where at that time, missiles from Lebanon fall almost every week. Her unemployed spouse takes care of the children, while she, the major breadwinner, has to work. In an attempt to rebel against her confining and restricting life, she decides it’s time for a change. Leaving her husband behind, whom she grew to despise, she takes her two kids with her to Tel Aviv, the big city. There she finds work in what she does best, driving a bus, and rents an apartment in a dubious part of the city. But life as a single mom is not easy, and Nurit finds that juggling between the demands of her job and her children is more than she can handle. She hires Mushidi, an illegal female immigrant from Ghana, as a live-in nanny, who instead of paying rent, will cook and take care of the children. With Mushidi’s help and friendship, Nurit discovers new things about herself, and redefines her motherhood and femininity.
