Waiting to Die
How can we be heard when free speech carries a terrible price ? An intense and confronting viewing experience, Olivia Rousset examines the origin and consequences of the longuest-running hunger strike in history. As Turkey takes centre stage as a friend of the west in the "War on Terror", the military dominated government's questionable human rights record receives far less exposure. Documenting the treatment of members of the country's outlawed Communist Parties, "Wainting to Die" takes the viewer into a dark and claustrophobic world of desperate prisoners, dying protesters and grieving relatives.
