Viol, une arme de guerre
For the first time, rape and sexual bondages are part of the bill of indictment for genocide being made against Misolevic. This film uses four portraits of victims and rare footage of the accused (Milosevic and his local accomplices) to relate the rape atrocities committed in Bosnia between April 1992 and December 1995. Dreadful stories told by these women who had endured the "worst," whose blood has been "tainted," to use their own words. Each of these testimonies reveal a specific aspect of the tragedy. These witnesses are met with impassive expressions and the unrepentant declarations of these persecutors brought up before the International Crimes Tribunal of the Hague. The accused are being tried for systematic rape, rape of minors of 12, genocide... In addition to the individual tales, this film lifts the veil from the political mechanisms behind these rapes used as a "weapon of war," to quote the Hague judges. Factual, moving, harsh: impossible to leave this film unaffected.
