Un juge de paix
With its port, its different neighborhoods and communities, Sète is a mini-Marseilles. Located in the center of town, the magistrates' court, which boasts neither columns or wainscoting, deals with small civil lawsuits in which penalties never exceed fines of €7,600. Hearings take place four or five mornings a month, each session dealing with some 30 cases. Franck Silvera, president of the tribunal, tries to oil the wheels of this small judicial machine. In addition to court hearings, Silvera also deals with seizures. With his clerk at his side, he receives indebted persons, a bailiff and a representative of the creditors.
