The Death Belt
Leslie Dale Martin had a huge stroke of luck when British-born lawyer, Clive Stafford-Smith took his case. Clive has represented over three hundred death row cases - more than any other lawyer in the world - and he's lost just four. Until then, Leslie was just one of nearly four thousand people sitting on America's death rows, waiting for their execution date. Now he had the best death row lawyer in the world. While DNA tests prove the innocence of some prisoners, Clive had to go back to Leslie’s original trial to find grounds for overturning his conviction for the rape and murder of Christina Burgin. The film follows Clive in his battle against the legal establishment in the small town of Lake Charles, Louisiana in his fight to keep Leslie alive.
