The Dancer's Story : The National Ballet at 50
Fifty dancers relate - in 50 stories and over 50 years - the history of the National Ballet of Canada. A personal interpretation using the vocabulary of dance, this film deals with a host of talents, life at the barre and each dancer's relationship with his or her peers. The approach is original: using a sampling of five generations of dancers, from the legendary pioneers to the current and future stars, the film allows each to tell the story of the ballet from their own point of view. Illustrated by archival footage, these accounts reflect the growth of the Ballet decade by decade. A novel blend of documentary and freshly filmed dance performances, with excerpts from the pivotal ballets of each decade.
