The Colour of Music, David Hockney and the Opera
Photographer? Painter? Scenographer? Art historian? David Hockney is all of these at once. A central figure of the 60s, he and his art have continued to evolve. Several films have celebrated Hockney's originality, the wealth of drawings, paintings, collages and photographs. However, we know less about the deep, undying passion for music hidden in his work. All his work, from painting to photocollage and silkscreens, has been more or less influenced by it. This film explores this unusual facet of Hockney's work, his passion for opera and scenic design.
