Tango Désir
The film begins with a short scene without music in which a Russian choreographer gives her students a lesson. They go through the classical ballet scrupulously but unenthusiastically. Gradually, the students file out of the rehearsal room and the teacher finds herself alone, giving free reign to her highly sensual imagination: old tangos, duos and ensembles, fanciful, sparkling dresses. At dawn, the choreographer has been transformed into a tango character, pacing the docks of the old port of Buenos Aires. She meets a dancer from the group, exhausted by an eventful night. Before they separate, they dance together for the pleasure of a last tango. Anna Maria Stekelman and Edgardo Cozarinsky have known and admired each other for the past 25 years. For the filmmaker, who has always dreamed of working with the choreographer, this film provided the chance to appropriate the circumstances and work out a dance narrative with her, one as close as possible to her artistic universe.
