Raging Dove
Welterweight boxing champion Johar Abu Lashin could have been the greatest boxer of his time, had he not got his flags wrong. A Palestinian-Israeli who was born in Nazareth, Abu Lashin was destined to live a life full of paradoxes. Winning his first world title at 21, he waved the Israeli flag, and turned the Arab world against him. Rebounding five years later, he waved a Palestinian flag, and turned Israelis against him. Everyone turned their back on him and his career was ruined twice. Abu Lashin moved to Johnson City, Tennessee and woke up when the dream of peace swept the Middle East. He planned a dramatic comeback. Two championship fights were booked for him - one in Nazareth and one in Gaza. Johar thought he could be a hero to two peoples, two perpetual enemies he is torn between.
