Princes de la guerre, seigneurs de la paix
After 15 years of bloody war, Lebanon signed the Taef accords in 1990, which should have officially reestablished peace. A general amnesty was decreed in order to erase the mistakes of the past and encourage the renewal of dialogue. Today, 12 years after the violence ceased, the situation isn't exactly encouraging: Lebanon is now under Syrian tutelage, the economy is in ruins and no changes have been instigated among institutions and political authorities. Following four major figures in Lebanese politics who have managed to maintain a sphere of influence despite their front-line role in the war, this documentary shows how no true peace has been attained in Lebanon. And that those who yesterday led the country to disaster, may again plunge the country anew into chaos.
