Pompallier, l'odyssée achevée
Jean-Baptiste Pompallier, a French bishop in charge of evangelizing the South Sea Island in the early years of the 20th century, was a highly colorful person. He was to remain 30 years in what would become New Zealand. Thanks to his astonishing experiences, made up of isolation and stunning encounters, the clergyman left behind a unique testament. Shot during the repatriation of his ashes to New Zealand at the request of the Maoris, this film shows the essential contribution made by a great French missionary to the foundation of this country and attempts to understand the man he was.
