Ginger Nut is a red-haired young boy, the youngest of three children born into an upper class family in the provinces. Taking advantage of his father's absence and his brother and sister's indifference, Ginger Nut's mother makes him her whipping boy. He tries to understand why his mother detests him. What is it about his red hair that drives her so mad ? He decides to find out who he really is. Maybe he was adopted or maybe he's not his father's son. When he realises his mother will never love him, he decides to give up trying to change her. His childhood is forever ruined but perhaps his decision can put him on the path to happiness.
