Piégés par StalineOne Way Ticket to the USSR
Right after World War II, 8,000 to 10,000 Frenchman of Russian origin or married to Russians, responded to Stalin's call to come to the Soviet Union. Stalin's trap closed around them. Most of them perished on the other side of the Iron Curtain without ever seeing France again. This story, which inspired Regis Wargnier's film East-West, is still little known. We found the last survivors of these events which marked the last century. Fifty years after the death, in March 1953, of the "people's little father," one of the greatest dictators of the 20th century, they tell the poignant story of an impossible homecoming for the first time.
