Par amour

Nicole Doucet runs one of the capital's classiest restaurants, the "Amphitryon." She's a strong-minded woman who runs both the dining room and the kitchen. Hers is a real success story. Her 25-year-old son, Guillaume, a gigolo and junkie, is sitting at a table with Solange, a woman 20 years his senior, and is making a spectacle of himself. Robert, the wine steward, urges Nicole do something before it's too late. As Guillaume and her companion leave the restaurant, Nicole decides to go to Solange's home... A few days later, Nicole is arrested at her restaurant. The police want to question her about the murder of Solange. At the station, in the presence of her lawyer and old friend, Pierre Debord, Nicole claims to know nothing. She did go to Solange's on the night of the murder, but no one answered the door. Still, a neighbor claims to have seen her enter the apartment. Taken into custody, she repeats her story before the judge and claims she doesn't know where her son is. She is detained pending investigation...
