O Teatro Segundo Antunes Filho
Antunes Filho was born in an Italian neighborhood of São Paulo. He was a restless kid, a troublemaker. He talks about that period, until he went to work at the City Hall, where he met Osmar Rodrigues Cruz, who directed an amateur group where Antunes had his first experience on stage, as an actor. Antunes' statement recalls his path from the beginning: the influence of the movies, the debut in the then recently created television-in which he was one of the first directors of the so-called tele-theatre in Brazil, his internship as assistant director of Ziembinski and renowned Italian directors at TBC (Brazilian Comedy Theatre), the beginnings of his professional career and the first hits in the theatre, in the 1950s, with the Small Comedy Theatre.
